About me or about the obsession?
Let's start with me: the fifth and youngest child of two corky Cuban-born parents who always made sure to remind me how "Esto nunca paso en Cuba - These things never happened in Cuba," in reference to about everything, weather good or bad. It may sound like irrelevant information but it can pretty much be used to sum up my life story chapter by chapter told from my stomach.
My own personal struggle between the crossroad of business and my passion for food led me to enroll to the NYU Masters in Food Studies and Sustainability. I have given up on the idea of saving the world of global hunger and/or zombies, but I am actively trying to make a little imprint with pinkie finger. How I am going to do this? TBD.
Fig-Feast:
Fig - inspired by my family, the Figgys, because to us, food is the only ingredient that makes us functional.
Feast - every meal should be a production in some way, not necessarily in terms of money spent, but by devoting time to enjoying every meal.
They had it right in the Renaissance times, pleasure was the biggest concern. It was a time of thriving arts, science, and exploration. Every meal in those times was a feast shared with loves ones and enemies.
It is important to channel the inner Renaissance man/woman inside you!
